After more than four years, today, the façade of the Shanghai Twin Towers Xinggang International Center is basically completed. The two main towers with a height of 263 meters have since put on a layer of breathing "green coat".
Walking out from Exit 1 of Tilanqiao Station of Rail Transit Line 12, looking up is the Xinggang International Center. The whole building consists of two towers, east and west, and a podium. The main tower is gradually tightened from top to bottom, and the combination resembles a "Chinese tripod". The outer walls are made up of grids with pieces of glass embedded in them. The glass curtain wall with a strong modern atmosphere actually hides a lot of "doorways".
"Light pollution" is the primary problem faced by glass curtain walls. Civil buildings with a height of more than 100 meters are called super high-rise buildings. With the shortage of land resources, the contradiction between less land and more people, and the improvement of construction technology and economic strength, super high-rise buildings are not uncommon in large cities. But super high-rise buildings are huge, and once the building is to be brightened, it will involve "light pollution".
The Xinggang International Center is located along the North Bund of Hongkou, and is an important part of the skyline of the North Bund. what to do? "The glass curtain wall used in a large area of the building is made of special materials with a reflectivity of no more than 7%, which greatly reduces the light reflection pollution to surrounding buildings." The reflectivity of the curtain wall is reduced, but the glass color is too dark, and the dull building appearance is not conducive to viewing. The technicians tried to find a way to use extremely oxidized decorative components to make the whole building brighter in appearance.
The Twin Towers is also a building that can breathe. On the ground near the curtain wall on each floor, there are "breathing ports", that is, ventilator systems. The entire building curtain wall adopts a similar ventilator system to achieve natural ventilation. After optimization, under the typical working conditions in the transition season, more than 90% of the main functional rooms in the building have an average natural ventilation frequency of no less than 2 times per hour. In the transition season of spring and autumn, natural ventilation can be achieved without even turning on the air conditioner.
"Super high-rise buildings use green technology to achieve energy saving and environmental protection. It has become a construction trend. To measure the greenness of a building, the outer curtain wall is particularly critical." Zhang Yimin said that Shanghai Tower has won LEED, which is known as the "Oscar" for green buildings. The certification is currently the highest green building in the world. The double-layer curtain wall it adopts reduces the energy consumption of heating and cooling by about half compared with the single-layer curtain wall.
The Star International Center is expected to be completed and accepted in the second half of this year. This is a large-scale TOD (public transport-oriented development) transportation hub center in Hongkou District, integrating subway, bus, shipping, and aerial pedestrian systems. It is close to the two subway lines of Line 12 and Line 19, and also has a 4,000-square-meter bus hub terminal and a ferry terminal on Fair Road. There is a roof garden of 17,500 square meters on the roof, which is the largest roof garden in Hongkou District and is open to the public around the clock.
